Evidence Digest: Why Partnering with Local Women's Organizations for GBViE Programming is Crucial - GBV AoR Helpdesk 2023

This evidence digest provides a summary of the existing evidence for partnering with local women's organizations (LWOs) for GBV programming in humanitarian settings. It gathers and synthesizes the evidence related to LWOs as GBV service providers and considers how partnering with them links to effective use of resources and efforts, community buy-in and sustainability. This report presents examples of LWOs leading GBV advocacy efforts and participating in humanitarian coordination structures. It also looks at the perspective and experience of LWO members, and the effect of their roles on their own social status and empowerment. This report builds upon a 2019 GBV AoR Helpdesk evidence review of promising practices for partnerships that support LWOs in undertaking GBV prevention and response programming in emergencies

This resource has been developed to assist gender-based violence (GBV) practitioners, MHPSS and health specialists as well as policy makers operating in humanitarian settings to understand the differences between women and girls’ safe spaces (WGSS) and one-stop centers (OSC). Drawing from key tools and guidance, it outlines the key characteristics of each type of service, their benefits, and some of the potential limitations of each service that need to be addressed as part of the design and implementation phases. This resource can be used as a reference tool when considering how to ensure comprehensive care for survivors in a given setting; it may also be useful for advocacy purposes to ensure that the scale up of one type of service (most often, one-stop centers) does not take precedence over or eclipse the other service. Exploring the links between flooding and violence against women and girls in the Eastern and Southern African region- GBV AoR Helpdesk 2024

This report examines how flooding, induced by climate change, disproportionately affects women and girls and increases their risk of experiencing GBV. The report has a particular focus on the Eastern and Southern Africa region. It identifies effective emergency preparedness and response strategies, particularly in the Eastern and Southern African region. It provides information that is useful to humanitarians, as well as development actors, working in flood-prone contexts.
GBV risk mitigation in CVA programming: Key takeaways from a UNFPA regional Latin American workshop

In May 2024 UNFPA held a 2-day regional workshop Panama to enhance collaboration and skills related to the mitigation of GBV risks in CVA interventions in Latin America. The workshop brought together 24 GBV and CVA experts, including GBV specialists, GBV coordinators and CWG coordinators under the two regional coordination mechanisms (Regional Inter-Agency Coordination Platform for Refugees and Migrants from Venezuela and the IASC Cluster System) and belonging to the six countries that have an existing and active CWG (Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, and Peru) as well as regional GBV coordinators and specialists. Mix-Methods Analysis of Gender Based Violence Risks, Needs and Service Gaps, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique - GBV AoR 2021

The Mozambique GBV AoR in collaboration with GBV AoR partners conducted a mix-method GBV qualitative analysis in Cabo Delgado province with the aim to fill existing data gaps. The analysis of this report drew on 32 partner safety audits FGDs, key informant interviews (KIIs), and protection monitoring and hotline user reports, covering IDP sites across eight districts of Cabo Delgado including Chiure, Ibo, Macomia, Marrupa, Metuge, Montepuez, Palma, and Quissanga.

Esta bibliografía comentada provee información sobre recursos técnicos globales sobre Violencia Basada en Género (VBG) en Emergencias que han sido traducidos al español. También proporciona una revisión de los recursos de VBG a nivel regional y nacional que se han producido en América Latina y el Caribe (LAC)1. En estos países, los principales idiomas de trabajo de las/os trabajadoras/es de primera línea son el español (la mayor parte de América Latina) y el inglés (la mayor parte del Caribe). Si bien, en algunos países de la región también se habla portugués, holandés y francés, así como dialectos e idiomas indígenas, esta bibliografía comentada, está centrada en los recursos disponibles en español e inglés, lo que beneficiará directamente a especialistas en asuntos de VBG, como trabajadoras/es sociales, trabajadoras/es de salud mental y apoyo psicosocial, voluntarias/os y organizaciones de la sociedad civil que trabajan para prevenir y responder a la VBG.
