Is Cash Assistance for GBV Survivors Advancing Inclusion?

We know cash assistance integrated into GBV case management can be lifesaving, but can it also be inclusive? In this episode, Reine and Dina from IRC's Women's Protection and Empowerment Program in Jordan reflect on how together with our partners we can be proactively inclusive of the most marginalized GBV survivors, such as LGBTQIA+ individuals and married adolescent girls. We talk about their experiences implementing cash with a dedicated lens for inclusion, lessons learned, and recommendations to respond to the unfulfilled protection needs amongst some of the most marginalized groups of GBV survivors.

El objetivo de esta breve nota orientativa es proporcionar a las encargadas de responder a la Violencia Basada en el Género una guía práctica sobre la elaboración de estrategias de salida y planes de contingencia. Esto es para garantizar que estén preparadas en caso de que un programa de respuesta de emergencia a la Violencia Basada en el Género se vea obligado a cerrar de forma permanente y prematura con poca antelación. Este documento intenta llenar un vacío de conocimiento y crear un recurso que pueda ofrecer vías para mejorar la sostenibilidad y promover la localización de la prevención y respuesta a la Violencia Basada en el Género.

Acil durumlarda cinsel ve diğer toplumsal cinsiyete dayalı şiddet (TCDŞ) türlerine ilişkin medya haberciliği, en iyi şekilde yapıldığında mültecilere, ülke içinde yerinden edilmiş kişilere (ÜYEK'ler) ve diğer hassas gruplara koruma sağlamak için karar vericiler ve topluluklarla birlikte savunuculuğa olanak sağlamakta ve kapsamlı TCDŞ programları için kaynak yaratılmasına katkı sağlamaktadır. Bununla birlikte acil durum şartlarında TCDŞ hakkında medyada çıkan haberler, temel etik ve güvenlik ilkeleri dikkate alınmadan yapıldığı takdirde TCDŞ'den hayatta kalan bireyleri, onların ailelerini ve onlara yardım edenleri riske atabilmektedir.

East and Southern Africa Regional Symposium on Male Child and Adolescent Survivors of Gender-Based Violence: Service Delivery and Prevention Perspectives

The symposium aims to bring together practitioners in the field of GBV and Child Protection, including those organizations focused on children and adolescents, researchers, academicians, programme implementers and policy makers. These individuals are at the forefront of leading, researching, engaging with and/or implementing programs that provide response and prevention services to male child and adolescent survivors of gender-based violence. The purpose is to facilitate the exchange and share knowledge, experiences, and learnings, and collectively identify concrete actions to enhance response and prevention efforts. Integrating Cash Assistance into GBV Case Management: Lebanon (2021)

As part of the humanitarian response in Lebanon, UNFPA Lebanon piloted the integration of cash assistance within GBV case management services. UNFPA implemented three different types of cash assistance: one-off emergency cash assistance, recurrent cash assistance, and cash for transport. These forms of cash assistance were integrated into comprehensive GBV services offered by UNFPA and its implementing partners, with a goal of improving protection outcomes for GBV survivors and mitigating individuals’ risk of GBV. Based on the analysis of the first PDMs conducted, the introduction of cash in case management had a positive impact on intended protection outcomes. For example: 75% of beneficiaries considered the cash assistance adequate to meet their immediate needs, such as covering the costs of safe accommodation, medical treatment, legal counseling, and transportation to access services or to a safer location. 100% of beneficiaries did not experience any safety-related incid...
