CAFI Open Letter to ERC: Preserving the Global Structure for Protection Against Gender-Based Violence and Strengthening Gender-Focused Action in the Context of Humanitarian Reset
21 Aug, 2025
The Call to Action Field Implementation (CAFI) Network, a coalition of over 200 WLOs, issued an open letter to ERC Tom Fletcher. It expressed alarm that merging the GBV AoR into the Protection Cluster and absorbing the PSEA group would undermine structures that save lives every day. Instead, CAFI proposed the creation of a dedicated cluster that integrates GBV, Gender Equality, and PSEA with recognized technical leadership, meaningful participation, and direct funding access. The letter was endorsed by 267 organizations and 43 individuals across 48 countries

06 Apr, 2022
On the 14th of March 2022, the United Nations Secretary General warned of “a hurricane of hunger and a meltdown of the global food system” as a consequence of the Ukraine crisis. Inequalities together with distribution and logistics problems linked with the consequence of the crisis in Ukraine, have disrupted global supply chains. In a globalized world already experiencing unprecedented levels of food insecurity, the crisis in Ukraine will impact food security everywhere. Few places will experience this more forcefully than the countries of West and Central Africa; and women and girls of West and Central Africa will once again bear the brunt of conflict and crisis, even one thousands of miles away...
