In 2022, as in 2021, in excess of 100 queries came through to the Helpdesk, maintaining the level of GBViE information and support delivered in 2021 to crisis-affected contexts around the world and demonstrating both demand for the services offered and that the service continues to be valued year on year. Compared to the previous year the Helpdesk received an increased number of requests for information relating to Women and Girls Safe Spaces and How to Collect and Use Survivor Data Safely and Effectively.

It looks at their lives holistically to see how the pandemic impacts their organizations and communities, and how humanitarian responders engage with them, if at all.

In March 2020, emerging gender impacts and trends were highlighted in an Advocacy Brief developed by GiHA resulting in key recommendations. Good practices from across the Asia Pacific Region have seen these recommendations being put into action and six weeks on, due to the scale and rapidly changing nature of the pandemic, it was seen as crucial to continue to document evidence of gender impacts across Asia Pacific and to update analysis and recommendations.
Energy, Gender, and GBV in Emergencies- Mercy Corps & WRC 2019

The Women's Refugee Commission and Mercy Corps’ Energy in Emergencies: Reducing Risks of Gender-based Violence (EEMRG) project, funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration, aims to improve safety and opportunities for women and girls through inclusive access to energy in emergencies. The report and accompanying case studies on Energy, Gender and GBV in Emergencies incorporate input from refugees, humanitarian practitioners and market actors and lay the foundation for a forthcoming training program, which will be rolled out in 2020 in close collaboration with Mercy Corps teams in Afghanistan, Jordan, and Uganda.

This paper focusses on the issue of technology in GBV prevention, mitigation and response in emergencies and aims to improve knowledge and understanding of good practices and lessons learned in harnessing technology to improve efforts to address GBV in humanitarian action. The paper was first published in 2019. The information and analysis were developed through review of recent literature and evidence on the use of technology-related innovations in GBV programming in humanitarian and non-humanitarian contexts, semi-structured interviews and correspondence with technology, GBViE and other specialists, and analysis of case studies collated based on a framework for enquiry. The paper was updated in December 2021 with a review of the latest literature and evidence to reflect recent developments in technology and GBV, including during the COVID-19 pandemic.

La crise multidimensionnelle au Burkina Faso est devenue en seulement deux années, la crise la plus dynamique (en termes de mouvements des populations) et la plus dévastatrice pour les populations civiles des trois pays du Centre Sahel (Burkina- Mali et Niger). Le pays est devenu depuis 2020, l’épicentre de la violence armée imposée en majorité par des groupes armés non étatiques (Aperçu des besoins humanitaires, 2022). La situation ne s'est pas améliorée et s'aggrave en raison de l'intensification des violences qui a pour corollaire la dégradation de l'environnement protecteur, notamment dans le Sahel, le Centre-Nord, le Nord-Est, le Centre-Est, les Cascades, les Hauts-Bassins et la Boucle du Mouhoun. 4,9 millions de personnes estimées avoir besoin d'une assistance humanitaire (Rapport de Situation-OCHA, 21 Octobre 2022).
