Preventing and Responding to Gender-based Violence in Faith-based Communities: An Annotated Bibliography of Recommended Resources - GBV AoR Helpdesk 2022
11 Jan, 2022
The annotated bibliography explores these and other approaches. However, only a small number of evaluated GBV programs are available. In addition, there is limited information available about how religious leaders and communities work with perpetrators of GBV, or about addressing GBV against marginalized women and girls, including violence against women and girls based on their sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression (SOGIE). Moreover, while many resources take an interfaith perspective, specific examples or details often focus on Christianity and Islam. Less information was found on other religions. This bibliography does not include resources exploring the role of faith in perpetrating and perpetuating GBV, although some of the resources do address this as well as describing prevention and response.

Gender-Based Violence and Child Protection Field Cooperation Framework is Out!
06 Jan, 2022
Recognising the interconnected needs of child and adolescent survivors, it is evident that Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Child Protection actors have overlapping responsibilities in regard to response, mitigation, prevention and preparedness. Actors must cooperate to generate better knowledge, develop skills and expand resources. Both GBV and Child Protection minimum standards reiterate the need for intersectoral cooperation. Increasingly complex emergencies require the collaboration between different disciplines to understand and address new and growing needs affecting girls and boys.1 Changes in the humanitarian landscape means that GBV and Child Protection response, mitigation and prevention will be led and implemented by diversified, local actors. Local actors need support to take on leadership roles in leading and coordinating response. Local women and youth organisations are instrumental for the practical response to the needs of child and adolescent survivors. The role of GBV ...

Guidelines on responsible representation and reporting of violence against women and violence against children
15 Oct, 2021
These guidelines promote responsible and effective representation and reporting of violence against women and violence against children for public advocacy purposes, such as media coverage and awareness raising campaigns. While the causes, risk factors, prevalence, patterns and consequences of violence against women and violence against children may differ, many of the considerations for ethically, safely and effectively communicating these issues are crosscutting. These guidelines are intended for media practitioners, United Nations country offices and other development and civil society organisations communicating about violence against women and violence against children.
REGA Review: Abridged Report - April 2023
23 May, 2024
Since the establishment of the Regional Emergency GBV Advisors (REGA) structure as an emergency mechanism in 2014, it has been challenging to ensure the systematic collection and analysis of evidence to assess its impact and relevance - beyond the number of deployments or the size and composition of the teams. A lack of qualitative evidence for the sustainability of the deployments measured in the extent to which their work has been capitalised on, replicated and sustainably absorbed by country offices, field GBV sub-clusters and UNFPA Regional Offices has also been noted. In addition, the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) expertise gap in operations seems to have grown between 2014 and 2019, which was reflected by the commitment in the 2019 REGA Letter of Intent to expand the composition of the REGA teams by adding new areas of GBV expertise (Regional Coordination and Information Management) to provide wider support to country operations. Nonetheless, there has been little joint ana...
