From Commitments to Action: Strengthening Disability Inclusion in GBV Programming
UNFPA Asia and the Pacific Regional Office is committed to making sure that all efforts to address GBV are inclusive of and accessible to women and girls with disabilities. To meet this critical need, UNFPA APRO has developed a range of tools for UNFPA Country Offices and partners, including organizations of persons with disabilities and GBV service providers, to strengthen disability inclusion in different stages of GBV programming. The package includes: The Tip-sheet on Disability Inclusion in GBV Programming which outlines the entry points and actions for disability inclusion in GBV programme planning, implementation and monitoring. The GBV and Disability Inclusion Assessment Tool which supports GBV service providers to assess the accessibility and inclusiveness of GBV services to the needs of women and girls with disabilities. It includes 25 questions/standards that can help identify existing gaps and track improvements over time. The standards are aligned with the Essentia...

Nov 05 ,2020 Building on previous initiatives relating to disability inclusion in GBV programming, the GBV AoR Community of Practice and the Women's Refugee Commission, with support from the Australian Government, present a webinar series about the IASC Disability Guidelines and its intersection with Gender-based Violence. An estimated 15 percent of people globally have a disability, with higher proportions among populations affected by crisis and conflict. Women reported to UNFPA that diminished economic opportunities and financial stress significantly contributed to this increased risk. In response, UNFPA provided vouchers to respond to the urgent needs of economically vulnerable families and women at risk of GBV in Gaza and East Jerusalem. Beneficiaries reported high satisfaction rates in the post- distribution monitoring. In Gaza, 97% of beneficiaries reported that the program had a positive impact on their psychological well-being.
