Save the Children and the Women’s Refugee Commission warmly invite you to a critical discussion on the margins of CSW and the Generation Equality Mexico Forum focused on the issue of adolescent girls and their increased risks and experiences of gender-based violence, and calling for concrete and actionable solutions. Gender inequality, combined with unequal age-based power dynamics and discrimination, means that adolescent girls, particularly the most marginalized, experience distinct risks of GBV and additional barriers to accessing essential response services. Adolescent girls too often fall through the gaps between protection efforts focused on younger children and those designed for women. This learning brief is part of a series of knowledge products produced by the Gender-Based Violence Area of Responsibility (GBV AoR) Helpdesk. UNFPA colleagues have partnered in the development and finalization of the content. To supplement the desk review that informs this learning brief, the Helpdesk also undertook interviews with ten colleagues working in humanitarian settings around the world with expertise in climate change and/or addressing GBV in climate-affected settings.
