Agenda: In English and French. All times in GMT.

About the Symposium:

We are pleased to invite you to take part in the Symposium on Menstrual Health and Hygiene in West and Central Africa, which will be held virtually from May 25 to 27 (three half-days) and which is organized by UNICEF, UNFPA and UNESCO within the framework of the French Muskoka partnership. This event will provide a first regional platform for all stakeholders involved in menstrual health and hygiene in West and Central Africa to showcase their work, to exchange, to learn and to connect with other actors and organizations. We expect this symposium to have strong representation from governments, civil society, the private sector, and adolescents, among other key stakeholders.

Session objectives:

The aim of the session is to provide the audience with context specific knowledge and information to key humanitarian issues related to MHM in Emergencies through presentations from keynote speakers. In addition, a panel discussion with active participation from the audience will facilitate an open discussion on two key topics that influence the quality and effectiveness of MHM in Emergencies programming.

Summary of the Session:

This session will include presentations from academia and humanitarian professionals at the global and country level addressing key issues related to the management of menstrual health and hygiene in humanitarian emergencies, including integration of MHM in Ebola response, ensuring quality and choice through strengthened procurement and supply standards, and experience from practitioners in Côted’ivoire. In the second half of the session, the speakers will be joined by panelists to discuss two topics
