The session will build on how COVID-19 and related containment measures have triggered a shadow pandemic of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) which threatens the safety and well-being of millions and girls and women. Réunion sur le cartographie du financement des bailleurs de fonds pour les activités de VBG en RDC: mercredi 12 mai Le Groupe de travail régional sur la VBG pour l'Afrique orientale et australe est heureux de vous inviter à la série de webinaires "Pratiques émergentes" qui se tient ce mois-ci en anglais (mardi 11 mai) et en français (mercredi 12 mai) à 15h00 (heure d’Afrique de l'Est). La coordinatrice du sous-cluster VBG en République Démocratique du Congo (RDC) présentera les résultats d'une récente «Cartographie» du financement des bailleurs de fonds pour les activités VBG réalisées par les membres du sous-cluster. Elle discutera la méthodologie utilisée et explorera comment ces résultats ont été utilisés dans le plaidoyer auprès des donateurs et des décideurs de haut niveau. Mapping Funding for GBV Activities in the DRC: The Methodology Used and How They Leveraged the Results; ENGLISH: 11 May @ 3:00 (EAT), FRENCH: 12 May @ 3:00 (EAT) Recording now available On 11 May the Regional GBV Working Group for East and Southern Africa held the webinar, Mapping Funding for GBV Activities in the DRC: The Methodology Used and How They Leveraged the Results. This was part of the "Emerging Practice" series, and an ENGLISH (Tuesday, 11 May) and FRENCH (Wednesday, 12 May) session were held. The GBV Sub-cluster Coordinator, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) presented the results of a "mapping" of donor funding for GBV activities that were carried out by members of the Sub-cluster. She will discuss the methodology used and explore how they have leveraged the results to advocate with donors and senior decision-makers.

The crisis in the Tigray Region has resulted in protection risks and concerns that have heightened the vulnerability of women, girls, boys, and men. As of 24th May, 1,918,220 people have been identified as internally displaced throughout the Tigray Region, 52% of whom are women and girls (1). Continued fighting, insecurity, break-down of security systems and social services, involvement of multiple armed actors, critical humanitarian needs and dire living conditions have created a high-risk environment and forced displacement in which GBV is a widespread daily reality for women and girls. The extent of the GBV problem in this crisis is captured in various statements including by the Ministry of Women, Children and Youth, Prime Minister, ICVA, IASC, UNSRSG-SVC, and the heads of nine UN agencies and other officials (2).
