The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a devastating toll on women and girls’ safety in already complex humanitarian emergencies. Risk mitigation measures to prevent the spread of the virus, including lockdowns and restrictions of movement, made specific and serious disruptions in women and girls’ lives. These factors also intensified operational challenges to delivering lifesaving gender-based violence (GBV) response services, which in complex humanitarian settings were already an arduous undertaking.

In order to address these gaps, the Human Rights Center (HRC), Save the Children, and Plan International partnered on a long-term research initiative to strengthen child marriage prevention and response in humanitarian settings. This qualitative study, the second phase of the three-phase initiative, sought to better understand the risk and protective factors, decision-making processes, service and support needs of girls and their caregivers that contribute to vulnerability to child marriage, and community perspectives on solutions for addressing and responding to child marriage in humanitarian settings.

El objetivo de la revisión documental y de las consultas globales realizadas por WRC a nombre de Plan, fue recopilar y documentar los programas existentes que proporcionan transferencias monetarias PTM para los resultados del bienestar de las/los adolescentes, así como evidencia reciente relacionada con los programas centrados en adolescentes en los sectores de protección de la niñez, salud y educación que se puede aplicar al uso de los programas de transferencias monetarias para los resultados del bienestar de las/los adolescentes.
Release of GBV AoR HelpDesk Learning Brief Technology Facilitated Gender-Based Violence

The new GBV AoR Helpdesk learning series addresses the issue of Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV) affecting women and girls in humanitarian settings. The three-part resource looks at the different forms of TFGBV, suggests actions for GBV specialists and also policy recommendations for humanitarian organisations, donors and technology companies. TFGBV is an emerging area and there is an increasing need to provide strategies to prevent, mitigate and respond to this form of violence.
Annotated Bibliography: Collective Care Processes and Practices - GBV AoR Helpdesk 2024

Collective care is a strategy that can be used by gender-based violence (GBV) programmers, researchers, activists, and other GBV specialists to sustain each other in work to prevent and respond to GBV in emergencies. This annotated bibliography provides an overview of relevant literature and material (including articles, blogs and podcasts) on this topic, to signpost those working on GBV in emergencies to relevant sources of information. The GBV AoR Helpdesk has also produced a tip sheet that provides additional information on collective care.
