Adapting for the Shadow Pandemic: Guidance on Remote GBV Services for Phone-based Case Management and Hotlines. The GBV AoR Community of Practice along with the GBV AoR Helpdesk is holding a webinar series: Adapting for the Shadow Pandemic: Guidance on Remote GBV Services for Phone-based Case Management and Hotlines. The event supports the release of the COVID-19 Guidance on Remote GBV Services Focusing on Phone-based Case Management and Hotlines. This new resource presents options for adapting GBV case management in the context of COVID-19 so that survivors can continue to access safe and confidential services. It focuses on phone-based case management and also provides recommendations for scaling up hotlines. Please register for each webinar separately. Human Rights Engagement and How We Can Practically Use it in the Cluster Context - GPC Forum 2020
Engagement with human rights system is one of the possible responses to address identified human rights and protection issues. Considering available uses of human rights mechanisms should be an integral part of protection strategies and responses. There are a range of human rights mechanisms, and several ways in which PC can engage with them as part of a human rights engagement strategy. Each of the mechanisms have their own advantages and disadvantages. The strategic and well-planned use of human rights mechanisms can enhance the protection of and the search for solutions for persons affected by the crises. Organized by the GPC Human Rights Engagement Task Team, this session will focus on what human rights engagement is and how it is relevant to our work in displacement context. Cash & Voucher Assistance: The Cash for Protection Agenda and Integration of GBV Risk Mitigation in Cash - GPC Forum 2020
The Cash for Protection (C4P) Task Team has recently published the Cash for Protection Stocktaking Paper in order to support a common understanding of the use of CVA in the protection sector, share up-to-date evidence and highlight gaps in knowledge, practice that require critical attention and resources. This session will help protection specialists, including but not limited to GBV specialists, to better understand the potential of using CVA for protection outcomes, evidence and evidence gaps, and key stakeholder actions to tackle gaps in evidence and practice. This session will dive into CVA for GBV outcomes and GBV risk mitigation in CVA as a potential roadmap for expanding CVA and Protection integration across the other AoRs (Child Protection, Housing Land and Property, and Mine Action). Organized by OCHA, UNHCR and ICRC, this virtual event will reflect on the role and contribution of field-based Protection Clusters to preventing or responding to protection of civilians (PoC) concerns, including through developing PoC strategies, monitoring, gathering and regular/timely sharing of information, analysis, advocacy and negotiation with relevant stakeholders, including parties to the conflict and weapons bearers, and the direct provision of assistance and specific protection programmes to reduce or respond to the consequences of armed violence. GBV Risk Mitigation Integration in Protection Work - GPC Forum 2020
As part of the GPC Global Protection Forum 2020, the GBV Guidelines Reference Group and GBV AoR organize a virtual session on GBV risk mitigation integration in Protection Work. This session will highlight good practices and challenges of GBV risk mitigation in Protection work from Protection and CCCM clusters to facilitate peer-learning among field coordinators and provide concrete ideas of how GBV risk mitigation can be implemented within protection programming and coordination. This session also aims to identify key actions that Protection and CCCM clusters can take to further scale up and institutionalize GBV risk mitigation into their work. The event will include a panel discussion among practitioners of protection, GBV and CCCM to highlight challenges and good practices of GBV risk mitigation, followed by group discussions to further share their experiences and identify strategic ways forward.
