Ukraine Refugee Response: Recommendations to Mitigate GBV Risks - GBV AoR Helpdesk 2022

This recommendations document is part of a series of knowledge products produced by the GBV AoR Helpdesk which aim to support the mitigation of GBV risks faced by women and girls’ refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine. The key recommendations contained in this document aim to inform coordination efforts with 1) refugee-hosting States, 2) GBV specialist refugee response agencies and organizations, and service providers, and 3) non-GBV specialists in other sectors to ensure that refugee women and girls’ risk of GBV is consistently and systematically mitigated.

Il s'agit de s'assurer qu'elles sont préparées en cas de cessation définitive, prématurée et sans préavis, d’un programme d'intervention d'urgence de lutte contre la violence basée sur le genre. Ce document vise à combler un manque de connaissances et à créer une ressource qui peut offrir des pistes pour améliorer la durabilité et faire progresser la localisation de la prévention et de la lutte contre la violence basée sur le genre.
Exploring the links between flooding and violence against women and girls in the Eastern and Southern African region- GBV AoR Helpdesk 2024

This report examines how flooding, induced by climate change, disproportionately affects women and girls and increases their risk of experiencing GBV. The report has a particular focus on the Eastern and Southern Africa region. It identifies effective emergency preparedness and response strategies, particularly in the Eastern and Southern African region. It provides information that is useful to humanitarians, as well as development actors, working in flood-prone contexts.

Considered a core element of GBV programming in the GBViE Minimum Standards, Women and Girls’ Safe Spaces (WGSS) are a structured place where women’s and adolescent girls’ physical and emotional safety is respected and where they are supported through processes of empowerment. Finding Ways and Means to Deliver Gender-based Violence Programming in Hostile Environments - GBV AoR Helpdesk 2023

This learning brief discusses a range of strategies and methods humanitarian actors can use to support and sustain GBV response and prevention programming in hostile contexts. It outlines what ‘hostile contexts’ refers to in this paper, and why it is important for GBV program managers and service providers to be able to identify and adapt to rapid or incremental increases in hostility in humanitarian environments, which are likely to adversely impact the implementation of GBV prevention and response programming. The paper discusses some of the risks women and girls face in these high-risk environments and concludes with several key considerations for GBV specialists.
