This report is the output of the ALNAP meeting: ‘Working together to improve humanitarian coordination’, held in London on 30 June and 1 July 2016. The meeting was part of a programme of research aimed at improving the effectiveness of the Inter Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Cluster-based humanitarian coordination system. This report summarises the main themes and recommendations of that meeting, and is informed by additional interviews and literature review.

The information presented in this guide is based on years of experience in the development of Voices from Syria — one of the most lauded in-depth analyses of gender-based violence in a humanitarian context, and one that has been hailed as a global best practice. We hope the insights provided will help inform and shape similar initiatives in other contexts around the world and to inspire new, innovative approaches to GBV data analysis.
Women-Led Organizations' (WLOs) Leadership in GBV Coordination Resource Package - 2023

Trócaire in partnership with the Gender-Based Violence Area of Responsibility (GBV AoR), and funded by USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA), implemented a participatory action research project focusing on: 1. How to dismantle barriers to women-led organizations’ (WLOs) participation and leadership in GBV coordination 2. How to foster meaningful leadership of local WLOs in the GBV coordination structures/ mechanisms 3. Understanding what is needed for GBV coordination structures to better follow the leadership of WLOs 4. How to leverage spaces for WLOs’ voice and influence 5. How to measure local women’s leadership in GBV coordination Two WLOs, Active in Development Aid (ADA) in Somalia and Women for Change (WFC) in South Sudan, were supported to take on the role of cochair of their local GBV working group. Localization Task Team: Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Regional Workshop Final Report - June 2019

From June 26-27, 2019, the Localization Task Team of the Gender-Based Violence Area of Responsibility (GBV AoR) hosted a Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regional workshop at the Dead Sea in Jordan. The meeting included a total of 27 participants, including representatives from Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen along with global and regional actors. In addition to including representatives from local civil society organizations, the workshop also included national or sub-national GBV sub-cluster coordinators as well as the regional emergency GBV advisor (REGA) for the MENA region.
