Annotated Bibliography of Spanish language Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies Resources - GBV AoR Helpdesk

This annotated bibliography provides information on global gender-based violence in emergencies (GBViE) technical resources that have been translated into Spanish. It also provides a review of regional and country-level GBV resources that were produced in Latin America and the Caribbean. This bibliography is intended to facilitate the access of Spanish-speaking GBV practitioners to guidance, knowledge, and tools in Spanish that will support them to implement GBV prevention and response programs. This bibliography is also meant to support engagement with Latin American national and local organizations and to promote learning and resource-sharing with local women’s organizations and groups about GBV resources in Spanish.
Technical Guidance Note on The Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies (GBViE) Analytical Framework - GBV AoR 2024

The gender-based violence (GBV) in emergencies analytical framework (GBViE AnF) is an overarching guide to GBV data collection and analysis in humanitarian emergencies. It provides guidance on gathering crucial insights for the prevention of, and response to, GBV in emergencies, setting out the analytical questions and specific information requirements that can be met through either primary data collection or secondary data review. While it is not a data collection tool, the framework can be applied to identify GBV information gaps.
Webinar: Women’s experiences of violence during cash transfer programs in emergency settings: Learnings from Raqqa Governorate, Syria & Recommendations for Risk Mitigation
Cash and voucher assistance is an efficient way to deliver assistance in emergency settings, and evidence demonstrates that cash programs have consistent positive impacts on food security and other health and economic outcomes in these contexts. Nevertheless, while evidence from development settings shows that cash has the potential to reduce intimate partner violence and increase empowerment for women and girls, there is a dearth of rigorous evidence from acute humanitarian settings. In response to this evidence gap, the International Rescue Committee conducted an evaluation of a cash program in Raqqa Governorate, Syria. The aim was to examine the effect of a cash for basic needs program on outcomes of violence against women, and women’s empowerment. This webinar will explore the results of the IRC’s study in Raqqa Governorate, Syria and recommendations for risk mitigation for cash assistance in emergency settings, including the Safer Cash Toolkit. This resource presents 16 Minimum Standards for prevention and response to GBV in emergencies. As a whole, the 16 Minimum Standards define what agencies working on specialised GBV programming need to achieve to prevent and respond to GBV and deliver multi-sectoral services.
