International Day of the Girl Child 2025
Despite the challenges faced, Sudanese Girls show remarkable resilience depicted in the leadership roles they have taken up in the local responses. Girls are leading in their communities, including in displacement camps, as heads of Adolescent clubs, school clubs and networks. They also lead awareness and advocacy campaigns as well as represent peers in adult forums such as protection committees and networks. Girls have the desire, passion and commitment to lead! Let us invest and build their agency to be leaders even in this crisis context. The Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Child Protection (CP) Areas of Responsibility (AoRs) stand united to say: girls in Sudan are not only collateral damage of this war—they are the future of peace. Investing in the safety, dignity, wellbeing and leadership of girls today is investing in the recovery and future stability of an accountable Sudan.
GBV Trends Analysis Gaza July-August 2025
27 Oct, 2025
This report provides a detailed analysis of gender-based violence (GBV) trends across Gaza during June to August 2025. During the reporting period, denial of resources and opportunities emerged as the most reported form of GBV (35.5%), followed by psychological abuse (29.8%) and physical assault (25.8%), reflecting the compounded effects of economic deprivation, insecurity, and domestic violence. Alarmingly, 102 incidents of suicide or attempted suicide were documented among survivors, signaling a worsening mental health crisis. The analysis also highlights that women aged 18–59 remain the most affected group, while adolescent girls and boys face growing risks linked to displacement and weakened protection systems. Despite these challenges, 72 GBV partners, many of them women-led organizations, continued to deliver life-saving case management, psychosocial support, and dignity assistance under extreme conditions. The report calls for urgent action to strengthen mental health supp...

This learning paper explores the links between climate, GBV, and disasters in Asia and the Pacific and considers key actions GBV specialists working in settings affected by climate change and disasters can take. Drawing from a desk review of relevant resources, it begins with a brief overview of the intersections of GBV, climate, and disasters, highlighting evidence that women and girls are often the most negatively affected by climate change and disasters yet the most excluded from climate action and disaster risk reduction (DRR), preparedness, response, and recovery. It then explores key considerations linked to climate action, with a summary of potential efforts GBV actors can take in climate change mitigation, climate adaptation and resilience, and supporting shifts from carbon-intensive economies to more sustainable use of natural resources. The paper goes on to consolidate recommendations for priority interventions to address GBV at three critical stages of disasters: risk reduct...
