Inter-Agency Minimum Standards for Prevention and Response to GBV in Emergencies - GBV AoR 2019

This resource presents 16 Minimum Standards for GBV prevention and response programming in emergencies. As a whole, the 16 Minimum Standards define what agencies working on specialized GBV programming need to achieve to prevent and respond to GBV, and deliver multisectoral services. The objective of the Minimum Standards is to establish a common understanding of what constitutes minimum GBV prevention and response programming in emergencies. “Minimum” means “of adequate quality”; for the purposes of this resource, adequate quality means (1) reflecting good practice and (2) not causing harm. As such, each Standard in this resource represents common agreement on what needs to be achieved for that specific programmatic element to be of adequate quality. When a GBV programme actor decides to implement a programmatic element outlined in the Standards, that intervention must be implemented according to the Standard at a minimum.

Conflicts impact different genders differently. Myanmar is no exception to this rule. The Mission found the gendered impact of Myanmar’s conflicts to be multi-faceted, while invariably taking a heavy toll on women and girls. In northern Myanmar, women and girls have borne the brunt of violations, including sexual and gender-based violence, as well as a wide spectrum of violations of their basic economic and social rights against the backdrop of existing gender inequality. In Rakhine, Rohingya women have been subjected to grave sexual and gender-based violence, including gang rape, rape and mutilation. Their situation is exacerbated by gender inequality and wide-spread discrimination against Rohingya, affecting rehabilitation and redress.

Cash Assistance and the Prevention, Mitigation and Response to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) - UNHCR 2019

The research in all three countries (Ecuador, Lebanon, Morocco) was centered around the outcomes of Cash Based Interventions (CBIs) on the prevention, mitigation and response to SGBV amongst recipients of assistance.
