Call to Action Annual Meeting

As the current lead of the Call to Action, the Government of Canada, is organizing the 2019 Annual Partners Meeting with the Women's Refugee Commission and members of the Steering Committee.
The objectives of the 2019 Annual Partners Meeting include:
1) Addressing challenges and identifying opportunities, both immediately and through the updating of the Road Map.
a. Deciding on priorities for collective work in 2020 and develop action plans to address gaps and take these priorities forward.
b. Confirming the process for drafting and finalizing the Road Map 2.0.

International Day of Rural Women

The crucial role that women and girls play in ensuring the sustainability of rural households and communities, improving rural livelihoods and overall wellbeing, has been increasingly recognized. Women account for a substantial proportion of the agricultural labour force, including informal work, and perform the bulk of unpaid care and domestic work within families and households in rural areas. They make significant contributions to agricultural production, food security and nutrition, land and natural resource management, and building climate resilience.

International Day of Peace

The International Day of Peace ("Peace Day") is observed around the world each year on 21 September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace. 

World Humanitarian Day

World Humanitarian Day (WHD) is held every year on 19 August to pay tribute to aid workers who risk their lives in humanitarian service, and to rally support for people affected by crises around the world.
