Where are the Women: Advancing Women’s Leadership in Politics and Peacebuilding

Women play major roles as decision-makers and leaders advancing peace and prosperity around the world. Yet progress on women’s political representation has been slow and uneven. Only 22 countries have women in the highest position of political power and only 25 percent of national parliamentarians are women. Barriers to women’s meaningful participation abound, including traditional gender roles, biases, and norms about who holds positions of power.
Join us for a discussion on how we can advance women’s meaningful political participation, build pipelines of future women leaders, and sustain support for gender equality. Government and civil society leaders will share lessons learned and best practices for breaking the barriers to accelerate women’s inclusion that can be scaled to better serve women worldwide.
