Save the Children and the Women’s Refugee Commission warmly invite you to a critical discussion on the margins of CSW and the Generation Equality Mexico Forum focused on the issue of adolescent girls and their increased risks and experiences of gender-based violence, and calling for concrete and actionable solutions.
Gender inequality, combined with unequal age-based power dynamics and discrimination, means that adolescent girls, particularly the most marginalized, experience distinct risks of GBV and additional barriers to accessing essential response services. Adolescent girls too often fall through the gaps between protection efforts focused on younger children and those designed for women. Collective and coordinated action, the inclusion of adolescent girl-led solutions, and concrete policy and political commitments backed by funding and accountability measures must be prioritized to prevent and respond to gender-based violence experienced by girls, particularly child marriage, and to ensure girls globally are able to grow up safe, healthy, and educated.
