“Prevention refers to taking action to stop GBV from first occurring. Primary prevention aims to tackle the root causes of GBV - gender inequality, exclusion and discrimination. Prevention approaches focus on behavioral modification and attitudinal change in addressing harmful social norms and also structural issues related to gender inequality. GBV prevention approaches can be integrated into the design of GBV response services (e.g. health, psychosocial support and case management).
