NORCAP builds partnerships with international organisations and national actors to protect lives, rights and livelihoods. We provide expert personnel and collaborate with international organisations and national partners to identify capacity needs, and to establish common goals and projects. Among these common goals is preventing Gender Based Violence. NORCAP believes in the importance of mitigating the risk of GBV by proactively addressing this negative circle that perpetuates women and girls in a cycle of violence, discrimination, and poverty for generations. Through our longstanding partnership with the Global Education Cluster, we are committed to explore and expand opportunities for supporting in integrating gender equality and GBV in our partners’ work.
Therefore, we are in search of a Gender and GBV Risk Mitigation Expert who will strengthen gender equality, empowerment of women girls, and GBV risk mitigation in coordinated education in emergencies responses. The successful candidate will advance these priorities by providing technical inputs to develop, update and strengthen the GEC’s global guidance, tools and capacity strengthening initiatives on gender mainstreaming and GBV risk mitigation. In addition, they will also undertake in-person and virtual deployments (depending on the COVID-19 context) to support education clusters and working groups strengthen gender and GBV risk mitigation across their work. This position is funded by Education Cannot Wait (ECW), which joined the global Call to Action on GBViE and made commitments to strengthen gender analysis, GBV risk mitigation, and meaningful engagement of local women organisations. Based in Geneva, where the UNICEF Office of Emergency Programmes is located, the role of Gender and GBV Risk Mitigation Expert is 12 months in duration.
