UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is offering a Temporary Appointment with the GBV Unit at Headquarters in Geneva. The GBV unit sits within the Field Protection Service in the Division of International Protection and works with entities at HQ and across the wider organisation.
UNHCR is mandated to provide international protection to refugees and other persons of concern and works together with States and partners to ensure that forcibly displaced women and girls are protected from GBV. Following the launch of the UNHCR Policy on the Prevention of, Risk Mitigation, and Response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV Policy), UNHCR continues to strengthen the institutionalization of GBV programming and coordination across the organization.
This assignment aims at providing strategic and technical support on GBV prevention and risk mitigation at various levels (HQ, regions and country operations). One specific focus is on strengthening prevention programming through expanding existing expert partnerships, including with displaced women and girl-led organizations, increasing internal capacity to implement evidence-based prevention programming and transferring good practices and lessons learned across different operations in accordance with existing and emerging best practice.
