Indashyikirwa, which means “agents of change” in Kinyarwanda, is a programme that aims to reduce intimate partner violence (IPV) and shift related attitudes, behaviours and social norms. Originally implemented in Rwanda by CARE Rwanda, Rwanda Women’s Network and Rwanda Men’s Resource Center, the approach was found to decrease IPV and conflict among couples, increase the involvement of men in domestic and care work, and lead to other positive behavioural changes.

UNDP Lebanon, with its partners ABAAD and ACTED, adapted the Indashyikirwa model for Syrian refugee and Lebanese host communities as part of the Women’s Economic Participation (WEP) project integrating gender based violence (GBV) prevention strategies.
